I first started working with clay as a hobby in 2002, and my passion for it led me to enrol in a college course. In 2007, I earned a BA (Hons) degree in Ceramics from the West Wales School of the Arts in Carmarthen. From 2011 to 2020, I had the pleasure of working as a Ceramic Technician and Teacher of Art at Bryanston School in Dorset, all while creating my own unique garden sculptures.
My interests in nature and contemporary architecture inspire me as a ceramic artist, prompting me to develop pieces that embody the essence of both natural and man-made forms, characterized by clarity of line and beauty in simplicity. With a background in precision engineering, I have cultivated a meticulous eye for achieving tight tolerances, refined lines, and defined angles in my contemporary ceramics.
Recently, as a ceramic artist, I have embraced a more relaxed approach to my creations, which can sometimes be described as whimsical. This fresh style diverges significantly from my usual work, focusing primarily on contemporary ceramics designed for the garden or patio. These garden pieces will complement my traditional precise work, allowing me greater experimentation and the opportunity to offer a wider variety of unique garden sculptures. As a result, each piece will be a distinctive handmade ceramic sculpture that enhances both your garden and home.
Every piece I create is hand-built using high-quality stoneware clay, meticulously constructed without the use of moulds. The careful modelling and intricate carving of finer details ensure that each piece stands out as one-of-a-kind. All of my work is high-fired, making many of these contemporary ceramics ideal for both indoor and outdoor display.
